Toyota’s pre Austin press release featured an almost throwaway line that confirms that the Cologne-based squad intend to commit two cars to the Fuji 6 Hours.
The race in Texas this coming weekend will again feature only the #8 Toyota TS030 Hybrid of Anthony Davidson, Sébastien Buemi and Stéphane Sarrazin but the #8 car will be joined by the sister #7 car once again with Alex Wurz, Nicolas Lapierre and Kazuki Nakajima next month in Japan.
Stéphane Sarrazin meanwhile is one of very few WEC regulars that has already raced at the Circuit of the Americas:
“I love racing in the United States and it’s been a great experience to compete in Grand-Am this year. The American fans are fantastic and I’m really looking forward to showing them what an LMP1 car can do. They have a huge passion for endurance racing and I’m sure they will enjoy seeing the performance of the TS030 HYBRID, especially at a flowing track like Austin. I drove there in March and enjoyed the track a lot. After what happened in Brazil, I am really motivated to get a strong result this weekend and I think we are capable of that.”
