Porsche Announce Full Factory GT Team For USCC

Porsche AG and Porsche Cars North America (PCNA) announced this morning that they will field a full factory two car effort under the PORSCHE NORTH AMERICA banner for the inaugural 2014 Tudor United Sportscar Racing Championship.

The plan involves the adoption of the Core Autosport team as competition partner with the effort engineered directly from Weissach and headquartered at Porsche Motorsport North America (PMNA) in Santa Ana, California.

The team will field the 2014 evolution version of the current Porsche 911 RSR with a full factory driver line-up.

The revised version of the car must, according to the current homologation, be raced before season’s end in 2013 and it is expected that this may well be at the Bahrain finale for the FIA WEC in the hands of the factory Manthey team.

“North America is Porsche’s single largest road car and motorsports market. Therefore, we have decided to focus a full factory program in the newly formed series, similar to our competing in the World Endurance Championship together with Manthey Racing,” said Hartmut Kristen, head of Porsche Motorsport.

“Having finally a unified platform to compete on has made the decision so much easier to enter a GT based Porsche factory team for the first time in American sports car racing,” he added.

More to come on this later
