Pending a further round of testing in December and early January, TRG-AMR looks forward to announcing its full season driver line-ups. The team also looks forward to a release of the North American Endurance Championship driver line-ups for Daytona and Sebring.
Kevin Buckler:
“I feel like this has been 20 years in the making for all of us. We have been one of the biggest supporters of sports car racing and particularly this class since we started racing in 1992. I am so proud of what TRG has done over the past two decades in evolving into a GT powerhouse and a solid racing and business organization. To have the opportunity to officially represent one of the most iconic and revered, street and racing marques in the world, is a perfect fit for where our organization has now evolved.
“We will be proud to represent and to race the Aston Martin Racing cars here in North America, not only for ourselves, but for any and all interested teams or partners. As everybody knows, these cars are wonderful machines and fully developed to today’s international racing standards. The “Brand” is strong– stronger than any brand we have ever seen and should yield benefits to the series in bringing some true corporate partnership to our paddock. Bringing an actual official Aston Martin Racing “mothership” here to North America, to make it easier for all of these things and for other teams to compete was a natural evolution in today’s racing and corporate structures.”
“We have also been huge fans of the new merger and everything that is happening. The timing could not be more perfect. While other forms of motorsports in the US are struggling, Sports car racing is on the uptick and has become more relevant in today’s corporate and marketing worlds. We finally have the unity of two strong organizations into one— one powerful management team, one amazing schedule and a fantastic TV package. This is truly our “Magic Moment” in sports car racing and hopefully everybody will jump on board. We are.”
Level 5 Motorsports meanwhile has entered a pair of GTD Ferrari 458s alongside its already announced pair of PC Orecas as the team’s customer programme begins to gain momentum.
2013 ALMS pairing for Alex Job Racing, Townsend Bell and Bill Sweedler, are already confirmed for one of the cars with the likelihood that they will be joined for the Enduros by Scott Tucker.
2013 Rolex Series GT champions Scuderia Corsa meanwhile have also confirmed a 2 car Ferrari entry in GTD with their #63 car featuring Grand-AM GT Champion Alessandro Balzan and Jeff Westphal. The team’s second car, #64 looks set to feature Ken Wilden and Rod Randall.
