Colin Blower former TVR Tuscan and British GT racer was back in the driving seat last Saturday at Bruntingthorpe.
He was giving his 14 year old son Sam his first taste of a real race car, encouragement enough we hope as Blower the Younger is currently learning the trade in karting.
The weapon of choice was the Vauxhall VX220 built by Colin which has not made an appearance since it’s British GT days.
The car is still quite unique and has now had an engine upgrade giving about 300 bhp and is fitted with a six speed Xtrac gear box (as used in touring cars).
Ex British GT Champ Mike Jordan, father of course of 2013 BTCC champ Andrew, played a key part in the installation and shakedown of the ‘box.
The car was built and prepared by Colin Blower Motorsport and was the only VX220 built up to full British GT Cup Class regs at the time.
Colin is now considering whether the car might race again, likely with Peter Snowdon behind the wheel, as he himself is, through his ongoing battle with Parkinsons disease, no longer able to race.
