There’s a reasonable support programme for the 6 Hours of Bahrain with races for the Porsche GT3 Challenge Middle East and the Indian-based MRF single seater Championship, effectively Indian Formula Renault, MRF are a locally based Tyre manufacturer.
There are names well known to DSCers in both Series with the Porsche Championship featuring Faisal Binladen, Abdulaziz Al Faisal and ADAC GT Masters regular Christina Neilsen and Harry Tinknell and young Sam Brabham (accompanied this weekend by his dad David) in th MRF Series.
The weather played a part in proceedings after track action was completed yesterday evening, and again this morning. Warnings of fog proved to be absolutely correct with visibility as we left the circuit at 11 pm or so down to less than 10 feet, the only effective way of proceeding proved to be a combination of following the sat nav coupled with yours truly hanging out of the passenger window like an excited labrador calling out the gap from the right hand kerb!
We’re told that the fog this morning, which was barely any better when we arrived is likely to lift very quickly before 10 am, circuit visibility is currently an issue and the medivac helicopter, nothing less here than a Royal Bahraini Airforce Black Hawk!
News later of the final bulletin, issued to the teams yesterday we gather, giving Driver rankings for the 2014 season. There are no further avenues of appeal for those less than pleased with their allotted gradings.
