Honda DP Engine For Sebring Debut

It’s been much rumoured but Racer.com’s Marshall Pruett gets the scoop in confirming that the direct-injected 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 engine that has seen success in LMP2 machinery for Honda and HPD is now being prepared for DP usage too.

There will be no Daytona debut for the Honda DP motor though with the engine now due to debut at Sebring after time ran out for the required engine benchmarking and homologation.

The powerplant will tested in a Riley chassis, the car expected to use generic “Gen 3” DP bodywork, rather than a custom Honda-themed shell.

If plans progress then the Honda V6 will join V8s from BMW and Chevrolet and Ford’s twin Turbo EcoBoost V6 on the engine roster for the USCC’s DP entry.
