It was a big surprise to get an email a few minutes ago announcing the immediate departure from Strakka Racing of Dan Walmsley, Team Manager of Strakka Racing who is taking up an intriguing sounding post at McLaren GT as Special Projects Engineering Manager.
Walmsley has been with Strakka for five years, and was promoted to team Manager after the departure of previous team boss Piers Phillips.
A Strakka team spokesperson said:
“It’s been a real pleasure working with Dan over the last five years and we would like to take this opportunity to wish Dan every success in his future projects, and thank him for the contribution he has made to the team.”
DSC understands that there is no immediate replacement in prospect but that the Strakka Dome LMP2 programme will progress as planned.
