It’s the ten PC class Orecas next up for their 15 minutes in the afternoon sunshine.
There’s an early ‘whoops’ from Chris Miller in the #85 CDC Miller car, a quick half spin on the out lap.
First to top the times was Colin Braun, the CORE Autosports man immediately into the 1:57s
Bruno Junquiera though was soon ahead, 1:57.0 topped the times but looked like a sighting lap!
Braun though would respond immediately, 1:56.599 looked good, but Raphael Matos did better still in the #38 car, 1:56.383
Martin Plowman was the next man to take a turn at the top, 1:56.300 for the #88 BAR1
Colin Braun though wasn’t giving up – 1:55.967. Matos meanwhile improved too, up to second, but not out of the 1:56s
Bruno Junquiera though was keen to take home the bragging rights too – 1:55.492 in the #09 RSR car took him to the top spot.
Behind him Tom Kimber Smith and Matos were squabbling for second spot, the gaps between the leading group just tenths as the real star quality of the PC Pros told.
Junquiera now though made a decisive break, 1:54.8 was a simply staggering lap and gave him a substantial edge for the first time. Though he went off and ran wide trying to do better again next time around the new mark looked unbeatable.
So it would prove, Tom Kimber Smith made a move, closed the gap and managed to climb to second fastest as the clock ticked town, the #25 8Star car posting a 1:55.599 but Junquiera’s effort was absolutely top drawer stuff.
Four men led this session, and a fifth ended up second – After a rather underwhelming Daytona display the PC show is back!
