Black Falcon Line-ups
Reigning Dubai and Nurburgring 24 Hours Champs Team Black Falcon have announced their 2014 driver squads for a two car AMG Mercedes Benz SLS GT3 entry in the Blancpain Endurance Series.
The team’s Pro class line up is: Abdulaziz Turki AlFaisal, Hubert Haupt and Andreas Simonsen whilst their Pro-Am squad features three Russian drivers: Mikhail Loboda, Yuty Loboda and Vladimir Lundkin.
Bentley’s New Boys
Bentley are gearing up for the 2014 season (and beyond) – Bentley GT’s Brian Gush and race team boss John Wickham were present in the TUSCC paddock at Sebring, that though followed a series of tests to determine the remaining drivers for the Continental GT3’s full season Blancpain Endurance programme.
With the trio that raced the car in Abu Dhabi late last year for the Gulf 12 Hours (Steven Kane, Andy Meyrick and Guy Smith) all looking set to continue into 2014 there are still three seats left to fill.
Autosport last week reported that no fewer than 11 hopefuls have been tested by the factory team: Duncan Tappy, Alex Brundle, Ho-Pin Tung, Jamie Campbell-Walter, Stuart Hall, James Walker, Antoine Leclerc, Stephen Jelley, Michael Meadows, Paul Rees and Nico Muller.
Tappy has now tested twice for the team – A decision is expected imminently on the final line-up.
Martin Matzke Hurt In Testing
Grasser Racing are due to compete in the Blancpain Sprint Series this season but their preparations have been thrown into disarray after a major shunt in testing for Martin Matzke two weeks ago.
The accident happened at Nogaro with the young Czech taken to a hospital in Toulouse from where he was subsequently airlifted to the University Clinic in Bordeaux, where he underwent spinal surgery on two fractured vertebrae.
Martin’s condition has thankfully stabilized and he reportedly now has full movement of his legs with the medical team saying there is a high chance of full recovery.
