Let the rumour mill start grinding once again!
A release today confirms that Doug Fehan, the face of Corvette Racing throughout the modern era will be awarded the coveted ‘Spirit of Le Mans’ award during race week for the 2014 Le Mans 24 Hours.
Allan McNish meanwhile will lead Le Mans one more time as the Grand Marshal for this year’s race he’ll drive the leading car that holds the grid in formation for the start.
The green flag though will be waved by none other than double F1 World Champion and current Ferrari factory driver Fernando Alonso, the Spaniard coming to Le Mans after an invitation from the ACO.
This honorary role for the Spaniard has been “encouraged by his current employer and also shows the strong links that exist between the ACO and Ferrari.”
In the history of the event Fernando Alonso, who finished fourth at last Monaco Grand Prix, is the first driver currently racing to give the start of the Le Mans 24 Hours.
