The proposed replacement car for the damaged #79 Prospeed Porsche has arrived a the circuit, this is the Crubile Sport car, in turn the ex Paul Miller Racing 911 GT3 RSR.
Bret Curtis meanwhile is the sixth driver counted out of the race after accidents in practice and qualifying after it was confirmed that he had not been cleared to race by the circuit doctors, Curtis having briefly lost consciousness after his incident.
If approved by the stewards of the meeting he may be replaced by Sebastien Crubile, team principal of Crubile Sport and a Le Mans Rookie last year, ironically with Prospeed.
There was no confirmation of the stewards approval for either driver or car by the time DSC left the circuit the afternoon.
The #52 Ram Racing Ferrari, damaged in an off at the Ford Chicane during qualify for Alvaro Parente, was undergoing attention today and should be fine for the race, ditto the #48 Murphy prototypes Oreca Nissan, Karun Chandhok describing the car snapping hard into the barrier, drivers right, at Indianapolis without warning. Happily there was no chassis damage.
Pegasus Racing too is looking set to be fine to race after their Lucas di Grassi-induced shunt saw the team’s Morgan Nissan hit the barrier hard close to pit in – The car suffered heavy damage but the tub is thankfully OK, as is the driver Leo Roussel.
Second fastest trap speed of the meeting (after the #8 Toyota in Free practice – 339. km/h) was actually not in the main race session at all, instead Le Mans rookie Katsu Kubota posted 338.1 km/h during his pole setting run in the Nissan R90CK for the Le Mans Legends Group C field, that equalled the speed of the second Toyota, Stephane Sarrazin posting his mark also in free practice. Kubota’s eventual 3:45.675 would have put him behind the LMP2 field had he been in the main race.
