After completing their objective of exceeding 300km/h on electric power during the Thursday night Qualifying Session, the Nissan team has managed to do the first-ever full lap of the circuit on electric-only power in the ZEOD RC.
After a trying week the achievement this morning was greeted with plenty of enthusiasm in the Nissan garage.
The ZEOD – this year’s Garage 56 project, in which the driver can switch between conventional and electric power sources ‘at will’ – is due to start the race from 27th on the grid with Lucas Ordonéz, Satoshi Motoyama and Wolfgang Reip behind the wheel.
Spectators can monitor whether the car is running on electric or conventional power by looking at the colour of the indicator light in the side-window of the cockpit or the strip on the middle pillar at the rear of the car. If it’s blue, it’s fully electric!
