Whilst the FIA WEC was racing in Japan the Asian Le Mans Series was racing at the World Championship’s next destination, Shanghai.
It’s been a troubled season for the Asian Series and, after consultation with teams and stakeholders, Series organizers have made the decision to remove the race due to take place in Buriram, Thailand on 23rd November from the 2014 calendar “in order to focus on delivering a successful final race in Sepang as well as being well prepared for 2015 season.”
The Series statement continues to say that “the provisional calendar for 2015 will be announced shortly which will show improvements in scheduling along with a number of strategic changes that will enhance the efficiency and attractiveness of the Series with the clear goal of increasing numbers of the grid.”
DSC will have an interview with Series Boss Mark Thomas, conducted in the days before the Shanghai meeting, online in the next few days.
