Major changes at Silverstone are underway following a statement yesterday from the British Racing Drivers Club that saw the Club take day to day control of the Circuit business, and order the immediate suspension (on full pay) of three senior executives, Managing Director Richard Phillips, Financial Director Ed Brookes and Legal Director David Thompson.
The statement from BRDC Chairman John Grant also announces that he, and BRDC Director (and Ginetta Chairman) Lawrence Tomlinson have taken on the duties of joint Chief Executives with immediate effect.
The moves come as the BRDC seeks to review the senior management structure of Silverstone Circuit Limited (SCL) in the wake of the recent long-term lease of 760 acres of commercial land to MPEC, the company now focusing on its core business as “a circuit operator and the home of the British Grand Prix.”
