Khaled Al Qubaisi confirmed here at the Dubai 24 Hours to DSC last year that he intended to compete in the 2014 FIA World Endurance championship under the Abu Dhabi Racing banner.
The double Dubai 24 Hours winner did exactly that of course, contesting the full season as part of the Proton Competition LM GTE-Am effort alongside Christian Ried and (for seven of the eight rounds) Klaus Bachler.
Fast forward a year and Khaled has confirmed to DSC today that his intention is to return to the WEC this year with the same team.
That’s of particular interest as the team has already confirmed an effort with Patrick Dempsey and Pat Long.
“I’d be doing it in a second car with the team,” said Khaled. “I really enjoyed the Championship last year but would like to se some movement on the Balance of Performance. We had no answer at all for the Aston Martins all season and that needs to change.”

The likelihood of a second Proton car adds further to the potential for the number of entry requests for the 2015 Championship being close to, or in excess of, the 32 car ceiling imposed by the WEC on full season entries.
