Phew! We made it to Fuji, greeted by massive jet lag, the world’s least customer friendly car hire system, glorious sunshine and a busy FIA WEC paddock.
No major surprises to report with the expected driver changes outlined in our race previews all confirmed and all 31 cars are here and ready to go (plus the part built up Rebellion spare car!).
One major question still to be answered is which aero solution Porsche will adopt for the race, and it’s a question that Porsche too don’t yet know the answer to either!
“We have two different aero solutions available for the cars here and will be trying them back to back in the first free practice session. The circuit here is very different, a long straight and some medium speed turns in the first half of the circuit so the decision between a relatively low downforce/ low drag set-up and a higher downforce kit such as we have used in the last two races is not a simple one.
The answer for Audi is already known, the two R18 e-tron quattros will wear an entirely new aero kit here – Revised nose with headlamps similar to those seen at the start of the year but very different detail aerodynamics elsewhere on the nose section.
