Christina Nielsen has announced on her Facebook page that she is set to join Formula Racing for the 2016 ELMS season and for their Le Mans 24 Hours effort.
It’s set to be a busy season to come for the Dane with a full IMSA GTD season with Scuderia Corsa also on the agenda.
With Johnny Laursen telling DSC at the 2015 season finale at Estoril that he and 2015 driving partner Mikkel Mac (below) would be taking up the team’s Automatic entry for Le Mans courtesy of their 2015 GTE Championship class win that would seem to confirm that it will be an all-Danish trio for the Le Mans effort at least.
Assuming that Christina takes the start as planned that would, we believe make her only the second daughter of a previous entrant to race in the 24 Hours (after Vanina and Jacky Ickx) her father Lars Erik Nielsen raced at Le Mans for four years from 2004-07 always finishing in the top 5 in GT2 and scoring a pair of class podium finishes (3rd in 2007 and 2nd in 2006, seen below on the podium after a late race gear linkage failure lost the team a solid class lead!)
