The post-season awards are upon us with plenty of silverware heading the way of some 2015 endurance racing favourites.
The ‘back-to back’ nature of the Autosport and BRDC awards no doubt meant some sore heads at the BRDC event at the Connaught Rooms on Monday, the Autosport event the previous evening saw a Gregor Grant award presented to Nico Hulkenberg in recognition of his Le Mans win as a concurrent F1 driver.
His Porsche team were recognised too with the John Bolster award for technical achievement going to the 919 Hybrid in a season where the car clinched not only the Le Mans win but a dominant World Championship win too.
The BRDC though recognised rather more of the season’s efforts.
The attendance of recently crowned Porsche World Endurance Champions and BRDC Members, Mark Webber and Brendon Hartley was the highlight of the Club’s Annual Awards at the Grand Connaught Rooms in London’s Covent Garden on Monday 7 December.
Mark Webber and Brendon Hartley were awarded a much prized Gold Star (Brendon’s is below) by BRDC President Derek Warwick, the two BRDC members joined on stage by team-mate Timo Bernhard as the Club recognised Porsche’s first world champions since 1986.
Nick Tandy received the ACO Plate, his race win at Le Mans meaning that he was unbeatable in the stakes for being the highest placed British driver at the Le Mans 24 Hours, the award made by ACO President Pierre Fillon.
The Woolf Barnato Trophy for the highest placed British team in the Le Mans 24 hour race went to Team JOTA Sport and Oliver Turvey, Mitch Evans and Simon Dolan.
The Silverstone – Le Mans Challenge for the driver or team achieving the highest combined finishing record of the Silverstone WEC race and the Le Mans 24 Hour race went to Audi: Andre Lotterer, Marcel Fassler and Benoit Treluyer Charlie Robertson took the ERA Club Trophy acknowledging his European Le Mans Series LMP3 championship.
Richard Westbrook took the Earl Howe Trophy for the British driver delivering the most meritorious performance of the year in North America.

ELMS Champion with Greaves Motorsport in their Gibson Nissan, Jon Lancaster took the John Cobb Trophy “for a success of outstanding character achieved by a British driver, in a British car.”
And Oliver Gavin was awarded the Colin Chapman Trophy, a special BRDC award to an individual displaying great team sprit be it a driver, team owner or engineer.
And lest we forget the Guild of Motoring Writers Photographer of the Year went, last week, to regular DSC collaborator Jakob Ebrey (that’s Jakob on the left btw!).
