Lowndes was due to drive the the car until a motorbike accident in which he sustained a broken collarbone forced him to pull out. Lowndes requires surgery and will be out of action until the end of February.

Rast meanwhile will be therefore making his first appearance at Mount Panorama since he finished fifth in a Phoenix Racing Audi in 2014; his only start in the race.

Reynolds signed with Erebus at the end of last year and is due to be racing one of the team’s Holdens in this year’s V8 Supercars Championship. His only previous appearance at the Bathurst 12 Hour was back in 2011 in a Porsche GT3.

“It’s been a long time since I’ve driven a GT car. I’m looking forward to the Bathurst 12 Hour, awesome cars, great drivers,” Reynolds told Tony Schibeci on Melbourne radio station SEN on Thursday. I’m driving a Mercedes Benz SLS for the first time.

“I’ve always got along with Betty and she’s a little bit different like myself in a weird way. In a weird world I’ve always thought I’d end up driving with her but it’s come around quicker than I thought.”
