The accident that claimed the life of Sean Edwards was caused by brake failure of the Porsche 996 GT3 that Edwards was a passenger in as he coached Will Holzheimer at Queensland raceway in October 2013.
A coroners report last week concluded that an unknown mechanical failure leading to total brake failure had been the root cause of the incident rather than the worn out brake pads that the inquest initially pointed towards.
Holzheimer suffered serious injuries in the accident but survived.
In the wake of Sean’s death family and friends established the Sean Edwards Foundation to campaign for better safety standards in motorsport.
