Wolfgang Reip has today confirmed to DSC that he has not had his contract renewed by Nissan for the 2016 season.
Reip has been one of the most successful of the Nissan GT Academy graduates – Since winning the GT Academy Europe contest in 2012 he scored podium finishes in the FIA WEC (LMP2) Blancpain Endurance Series, British GT Championship (below with Sir Chris Hoy) and Renault Sport RS01 Trophy.
He was entrusted with much of the testing for the Nissan ZEOD RC and achieved the first ever all-electrical powered lap of the Le Mans circuit in the car in race morning warm-up in 2014 before an early retirement in the race proper.
Reip was part of the historic race winning team in the 2015 Liqui Moly Bathurst 12 Hours and also formed part of the 2015 Blancpain Endurance Championship winning squad for Nissan, a title run which included a race win at Paul Ricard.
