Action Express Racing made it four from four in the final Free Practice session on Friday morning as one or the other of the team’s Corvette DPs topped every session so far at Sebring International Raceway.
This time it was Dane Cameron in the #31 Whelen backed car on top with the fastest time of the meeting so far – 1:52.135 with Filipe Albuquerque in the #5 car less than a tenth behind in the sister #5 Vette DP 1:52.228.
Third fastest was the refettled #60 Michael Shank Racing Ligier JS P2-Honda (complete with replacement, unpainted, front bodywork!) the team having worked late into the night to repair the damage from John Pew’s accident in FP3 – Olivier Pla produced a lap 9 tenths off Cameron’s session topper.
BMW Team RLL produced their third session topping performance of the meeting in GTLM, Bill Auberlen quickest in the #25 BMW M6 GTLM with a 1:57.751.
Antonio Garcia popped up second in the #3 Corvette C7.R with a 1:58.094 with Toni Vilander completing the top trio in the #62 Risi Competizione Ferrari 488 (1:58.291).
Colin Braun again put CORE autosport’s Oreca PC both to the top of the class times, and in amongst the Prototypes, eighth fastest overall, ahead of no fewer than five of the top class cars with a 1:55.023.
GT Daytona saw a Lamborghini at the top, the #16 Change Racing Lamborghini Huracán of Spencer Pumpelly managing a 2:02.263 just edging out Richie Stanaway’s early session leading time in the #98 Aston Martin Racing V12 Vantage (2:02.289).
