Frikadelli Racing has confirmed via its Facebook fan page that it will now run in the 2016 Nürburgring 24 Hours, after announcing it would pull out in protest over BoP earlier this month.
The German fan-favourite lobbied for, and has subsequently been granted a wider restrictor for the round-the-clock German race for its new Porsche 911 GR3 R.
“Sigh! We have good news for you,” the post states. “The “meatball” will run in the 24 Hours Nürburgring with Sabine and Klaus in the new 911 GT3 R as planned with Patrick Huisman and Norbert Siedler.
“The enormous response and concern from our fans on the decision has really surprised us!
“After adjusting for the third VLN race of the season today BoP Classification of the GT3 R was changed again. The restrictor for our car on both sides will be a millimeter wider in diameter, so the engine of our Porsche was able to breathe.
“Whether this will be enough to be competitive, we will see in the various practice sessions. But we are sure that those responsible for it, will keep an eye on it during the event. BoP has to be as fair as possible across all brands.”
