A serious accident in the paddock after the Silverstone 500 on Sunday left two members of the PFL Motorsport team injured.
The incident was caused by a technical failure on the tail lift of the team transporter, which occurred as the #5 Aston Martin was being packed away and saw part of the lift collapse dropping the Aston Martin to the ground.
One team member suffered a suspected broken heel after jumping from the lift as it failed with two others (one of whom had been sitting in the car) emerging with minor bumps and bruises.
As with any such incident a health and safety investigation is currently underway with the team’s transporter still at Silverstone this morning as that continues.
Damage to the #5 car meanwhile is reported to be substantial but fixable within the time before the next British GT race. However, the time required for the necessary insurance processes, as well as the accident investigation, leaves its participation at Spa on 8/9 July in some doubt.
The post race dramas sadly didn’t end there. There was a further incident as an ambulance responded to an emergency call to attend the incident with the PFL Motorsport team, the vehicle colliding with a Silverstone shuttle bus in the paddock with serious damage to both vehicles. No further injuries were reported.
