The LMP1 L Endurance Trophy For LMP1 Private Teams and Drivers Championships were both decided at Fuji after the retirement of the ByKolles CLM and an untroubled run from the #13 R-One.
Alexandre Imperatori, Mathéo Tuscher and Dominik Kraihamer have scored 150 points thus far, with 50 points still remaining in the races at Shanghai and Bahrain. The trio’s only opposition in the class from the #4 ByKolles CLM now sit 86 points behind and still 38 points behind the currently second placed #12 Rebellion of Nick Heidfeld and Nelson Piquet Jnr which left the championship at the conclusion of the European season.
Whilst the #12 will not add to its total in the Teams or Drivers standings before the end of the season, success in the last two races for the sister car could see the now absent second R-One secure second place in the championship.
Wins for the #13 in both races would mean a maximum of 36 points for the #4 ByKolles car, too short of the target as the FIA WEC’s youngest-ever champion – Matheo Tuscher – explained to DSC.
“It was sad to see the #4 car retire, because of course we want a fight, but we did all we could do to bring the car home in good shape. The pit stops were faultless, and of course it’s great to secure a title.
“Now we must do the same again in Shanghai and Bahrain and help the team secure second place in the championship for the #12.”
Rebellion has won all the races so far in the championship, with the #13 car winning three out of the four, when both cars were competing, the #12 taking the double-points win at Le Mans.
