Giti Tire Partners With Dörr Motorsports For Nurburgring 24 Hours

Lamborghini effort to debut SIngaporean tyre company at 'Green Hell'

Singapore-based Giti Tire has announced a strategic partnership with Dörr Motorsport that looks set to bring yet another major tyre company onto the entry for the 2017 Nürburgring 24 Hours.

The programme, featuring a Dörr-entered Lamborghini Huracan GT3, marks the first major GT racing effort outside the Asi-Pacific region for Giti whose motorsport activities in recent years have included a win at the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb with Nobuhiro ‘Monster’ Tajima, the GTC class win at the 2015 Sepang 12 Hour Endurance Race (again with a Lamborghini), plus the Formula Masters China Series and Formula DRIFT USA.

The deal was signed late last year by Giti R&D Executive Director Phang Wai Yeen and Dörr founder Mr. Rainer Dörr at a stakeholder event in Shanghai.

Rainer Dörr: “Giti is a world renowned tire business with strong racing genes. I visited the Giti R&D center, which gave me confidence in Giti’s design capability and product quality.

“I believe that our team will make new records on the Nürburgring with support from Giti in the future.”

Phang Wai Yeen: “As Giti and Dörr partner up, we expect a new milestone to be set for the Nürburgring 24 Hours Endurance Race in May 2017.

“We will also continue to our combine racing genes with R&D and passenger car tire manufacturing, to provide better and safer tires to car owners and make Giti the top choice for car owners.”

GiTi then looks set to join the regular near double figures level of tire suppliers at one of the few remaining open tyre supply endurance events in the world.
