Kings brings four to the party
Kings Racing will compete in the 2017 China GT Championship with a quartet of GT cars.
The team will race a Audi R8 LMS GT3 with Xu Jia, a Ferrari 458 GT3 with pilot XU Wei two Lamborghini Huracan Super Trofeos in GTC class with two unconfirmed drivers.
“There’s a large gap that exists between motor racing in Europe and China, yet China GT provides a platform for Chinese drivers and for Chinese motorsport to advance to the next step, so I am looking forward to seeing continued growth,” said Wei.
“In 2017, China GT made a strong impact attracting many drivers from all types of backgrounds. Drivers of KINGS Racing never shy away from a challenge as we (the drivers) are relatively young and share a strong affection for sports cars, motorsport and sports in general. Racing cars epitomize speed and passion which are traits of King’s image.”
And 12 for JRM!
2016 China GT Champion JRM has confirmed that it will bring a total of 12 cars cars for the 2017 season across the GT3, GTC and GT4 classes.
Within that bunch, the team will bring two Porsche 991 GT3 Rs for the GT3 class, six GTC, with multiple Porsche 991s and Audi R8 LMS’ and a combination of Aston Martin GT4s and Porsche Cayman GT4 Clubsport MRs in GT4.
While there are no drivers confirmed by the team yet, it plans to run multiple international drivers to partner gentlemen drivers for its title challenge.
AMG and Super Trofeo Lamborghini for D2 Racing
Taiwan based D2 Racing will contest the GT3 and GTC class in the 2017 China GT Championship with a Mercedes-AMG GT3 and a Lamborghini Huracan Super Trofeo, with a possibility of adding another Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3 and Audi R8 LMS.
The Taiwanese outfit has been a reigning champion of the Pan Delta Super Racing Festival GT3 Class, and has contested the Macau Grand Prix with its Mercedes-AMG GT3.

“We will also have a strong driver lineup, with two-time Pan Delta Super Racing Festival GT3 champion Kuo Kuo Hsin in the Mercedes-AMG GT3 and 2016 Pan Delta Super Racing Festival GT champion Huang Hsi Chan in the Lamborghini Huracan Super Trofeo.”
Aston Martin GT4s for China Equity Racing
China Equity Racing will make its debut in the 2017 China GT Championship, confirming four Aston Martin GT4 cars in all 6 events with support from Prodrive.
China Equity Racing is fully-owned by the China Equity Group, a prominent private equity and venture capital investment firm that invested in Aston Martin and received authorisation from Aston Martin Racing to run its operations in China. In addition, China Equity Racing will also be supported by strategic partner Global Wings, ensuring it will make a name for itself in Chinese motor racing.
“China GT Championship is China’s top circuit racing championship and racing at a top level is what Aston Martin Racing is renowned for” China Equity Racing’s Operations Director said. “Our partnership with China GT is a match made in heaven and is sure to inject more on-track excitement. As a newcomer to the GT4 class, our goal this year is to explore the sport and learn best practices from other competitors, whilst aiming for the podiums along the way.”
