Hedlund Steps Down From K-PAX Racing PWC Drive

Lewis to move into #6 for remainder of the SprintX season

K-PAX Racing has announced that its GTA #98 McLaren 650S GT3 will take no further part in this year’s Pirelli World Challenge season, as Mike Hedlund steps down from his drive with the Californian team.

As well as racing the #98 in the PWC with the 2016 PWC champion, he also campaigned in the SprintX series in the car with Michael Lewis, who will now partner with Bryan Sellers for the final two rounds of the season in the #6. In doing so he’ll be driving in McLaren GT Factory Driver Johnny Kane’s seat in the #6 SprintX car.

“It is very unfortunate both for K-PAX and for Mike that we have to withdraw his entry for the remainder of the season,” K-PAX Racing programme manager Darren Law said. “He is great to work with, and it’s frustrating we could not achieve the results we both thought possible. I respect Mike and he does a great job in the car.

“We continue to work together with him and look forward to more programs in the future. As for Michael Lewis, we are really happy to announce that he will continue with us and move over to the No. 6 car that Bryan Sellers drives full-time. Michael is fast and is great to work with.

“We are pleased to keep him on and give him an opportunity to fight for the podium with Bryan in the final rounds of the PWC SprintX Championship.”
