Chaves, AVF Dallara Top Night Session At Prologue

Only half the field head out

ELMS newcomer AVF by Adrian Valles ran fastest in this evening’s Night Session at Paul Ricard, its Dallara P217 of Henrique Chaves setting the fastest lap of the day, a 1:41.018 with the light fading in the South of France.

The lap put a Dallara on top of the times for the first time so far in the Prologue, ORECA 07 Gibson from Graff and DragonSpeed setting the pace in the Morning and Afternoon runs respectively.

DragonSpeed, which set the best time in the Afternoon Session, ended up second in the night running, which saw only 23 of the 45 cars set times. While earlier in the day it was Nicolas Lapierre who set the fastest time, in the night, Ben Hanley took the reigns, his time less than three tenths off Chaves; the team once again the fastest Michelin runner in the field.

Racing Engineering, another new team to the ELMS this year joining from the single seater ranks, ended up third, with a 1:42.011 from its ORECA 07 Gibson capping off a successful first day in prototype competition for the team.

Completing the top five in LMP2 meanwhile was a pair of Dallaras, the SMP Racing example leading the High Class Racing machine.

DKR Engineering topped the LMP3 times once again, as it did in the afternoon with Alex Toril running four tenths faster, setting a 1:51.363 lap in the #8 Norma. The #9 AT Racing Ligier was second fastest with Dane Mikkel Jensen reeling off a 1:51.867.

In the GTE category, the only car to head out for the session was the Krohn Racing Ferrari, Nic Jonnson set a 2:00.426.
