The Aston Martin V12 Vantage GT3 farewell tour is almost over with the Barcelona Endurance Cup finale likey the final time the last iteration of V12 engined GT3 Aston Martin will be seen in Blancpain GT competition, the R-Motorsport pair and Oman Racing’s solo example though did not have the best of finales.
The #76 R-Motorsport example rather rudely barged out of podium contention by Dries Vanthoor, the sister #62 car pinged for a Full Course Yellow procedure infringement with a drive through that saw a top ten finish transformed into 19th, and the Oman Racing/ TF Sport example finishing fifth in Silver Cup, 22nd overall.
Stephane’s Barcelona Outing Curtailed
Plans for Stephane Ratel to race in the Barcelona season finale of the Blancpain Sports Club came to naught after the SRO founder hit trouble in the first free practice session in a Team Parker Racing prepped Bentley Continental GT3.
Details of the incident are somewhat sketchy but the rather second hand car was loaded back on the truck immediately after the session, chassis damage the early diagnosis.
