Alonso returns To Scene of Fuji Triumph, Exactly A Decade On!
Today is exactly a decade since Fernando Alonso won the Japanese Grand Prix here at Fuji Speedway, the last time the Spaniard competed in any race here!
Bruno Better!
The DSC Editor bumped into Bruno Senna this morning, the Brazilian running the gauntlet from a gathering mass of autograph hunters en route to the Race Control building:
“I’m heading to the Medical Centre to get clearance to drive,” said Bruno, returning after the pre-race accident at Spa in the Rebellion that left him with fractures to his leg and hip. The good news is that the fractures were clean and healed well and quickly, and that after initial pain there is little in the way of lasting discomfort.
Kids galore
The now traditional Friday visit to Fuji Speedway from large groups of local schoolchildren is underway, the circuit and the WEC again hosting kids to not only experience the paddock and on-track action, but also to take part in a variety of curricular-relevant activities.
A substantial number of them took part in the WEC press conference firing questions at the drivers present: Fernando Alonso, Antonio Felix da Costa, Nyck de Vries, Giancarlo Fisichella, Bruno Senna and Jenson Button.
