Whilst the Championship titles have been settled in the 2018 Michelin Le Mans Cup there are podium and race-winning honours still up for grabs at the season’s finale at Portimao this weekend.
The Ecurie Ecosse squad will arrive looking for a second consecutive win to leave the points gap at the end of the season to the Championship-winning DKR Norma pairing. Both Ecurie Ecosse/Nielsen pairings look strong, but the Colin Noble/ Alasdair McCaig crew has been the stronger through the season.
Interestingly both Ecosse squads feature a newly crowned Champion, Colin Noble in the #79 combined with Tony Wells in the #2 combined to take the second consecutive title for the team in the UK LMP3 Championship, Noble too now a double title winner.
A 27-car entry of GT3 and LMP3 cars should see plenty of action in store. The seven car GT3 entry sees the return of Ollie Hancock and John Hartshorne in the #50 Kessel Racing Ferrari after a two race absence with Kessel also adding a fourth Ferrari for GT4 and Ferrari one-make racer Manuela Goestner, the first female driver in the Series since Flick Haigh a year ago.
She combines with Giorgio Sernagiotto who will be doing double duty alongside his regular LMP2 drive with Cetilar Villorba Corse in the ELMS.
In LMP3 there’s a 20 car entry with a mainly familiar line-up.
Keo Racing add their #43 Ligier JS P3 to the entry for Dane Johan Jokinen and German Paul Scheuschner.
Alexander West takes the opportunity for some prototypical preparation ahead of his Asian Le Mans Series LMP2 programme with Spirit of Race. He joins forces with Damien Delafosse in the #65 Graff Norma. Fabien Lavergne returns for a second race alongside Laurents Hörr in the #30 CD Sport Norma.
