Noble & Wells To Unite For Second Asian Le Mans Campaign With Nielsen

Nielsen Racing's second Le Mans programme is coming together

Nielsen Racing’s first driver pairing for its multi-car 2019/20 Asian Le Mans Series LMP3 effort has been confirmed.

The team will return to the series for a second season with its regular ELMS and Le Mans Cup pairing of Tony Wells and Colin Noble.

Last year they made their debut in Asia, finishing a fighting third in the standings. With the series visiting three of the four circuits from last season again this term, Noble and Wells feel they can be contenders for championship honours. (The Bend Motorsport Park is the new circuit on this year’s calendar, replacing the round at Fuji.)

“I am really looking forward to returning to the Asian Le Mans Series for the 2019/20 season,” Noble said. “Last year I learned a great deal and feel that Tony and I have a chance to fight for the title during this campaign.

“The switch to the Norma M30 for this season has ensured we can be contenders for podiums and wins each weekend in Europe, and we expect that to continue in Asia when we race as part of what promises to be a high-quality LMP3 entry once again.”

The team, which will field multiple entries into the championship, will run the Norma LMP3 chassis for the first time in Asia this season, after campaigning Ligier JS P3s in the 2018/19 season.

“We’re delighted to be heading back to Shanghai in November where we finished fourth on our debut. Having made the chassis switch earlier in the year, we’re confident that as a team, we will be right up there in the championship,” added team principal David ‘Sven Nielsen’ Thompson.

“We’re working very hard week-in-week-out to get the best from the package, ourselves as a team, and I believe that we will be able to deliver Tony and Colin with the machinery they need to win.

“On a personal note, we have worked with Tony and Colin for a very long time and we are grateful in the faith that they continue to show to the team as we continue to grow and develop. We’ll continue to focus on the European Championship and everything we continue to learn there is transferable to the four-round Asian Series.”

The opening round of the season is set to run on November 25th at the Shanghai International Circuit.
