Polish team Inter Europol Competition has purchased two Ligier JS P320s, continuing its longstanding LMP3 programme in which it has racked up multiple ELMS race wins and an Asian Le Mans Series title in the past two years.
The team has been a Ligier since joining the LMP3 ranks in 2016 and currently competes with it in LMP2. It now owns three JS P217 chassis, for use in the Asian Le Mans Series and ELMS.
This news comes off the back of a highly successful three-day public test for Ligier at Portimao earlier this week. During that test the JS P320 proved to be durable and fast. The two chassis present managed 2400km of faultless running over the three days.
“We are very proud that Inter Europol Competition has chosen the Ligier JS P320 for the new generation of LMP3 next year,” said Jacques Nicolet, President of Ligier Automotive.
“Since their first race in ELMS in 2016, they have always demonstrated the competitiveness and reliability of the Ligier JS P3. This year they’ve been the most consistent team crossing the finishing line in the top three at every race. More, they have achieved 10 podium finishes in a row between ELMS 2018, Asian Le Mans Series 2018/2019 and ELMS 2019 with the Ligier JS P3.
“We thank them for continuing to put their trust in our Ligier cars and look forward to seeing what they will achieve with the even more competitive and faster Ligier JS P320 from 2020.
“In the meantime, we wish them a great season in Asian Le Mans Series with the Ligier JS P3 and the Ligier JS P217.”
Michael Keese, Inter Europol’s team director added: “After the first very positive impression of the JS P320 of how strong and good this car is, combined with the very professional support of the Ligier staff, there is no alternative for us to the Ligier. Also for the LMP2, where support is more important than for the LMP3, we are more than happy to be a Ligier customer.
“So, when some competitors decided to switch to ORECA, we decided to buy a third JS P217 in order to continue our test programme in Europe even when we are in Asia.”
Inter Europol adds to a growing list of Ligier customer teams for 2020 in LMP3. DSC believes that United Autosports, AF Corse, 360 Racing and Graff Racing have all placed orders for JS P320s.
