Hiroshi Hamaguchi, Japan’s First Motorsport Gold Medallist!

On Vallelunga, his talented team-mate, 2020 in Endurance Cup and Michelin Le Mans Cup with Lamborghini

Hiroshi Hamaguchi was rightly delighted with the team Japan win at Valleleunga in the GT Cup contest of the inaugural FIA Motorsport Games for himself and young driving partner Ukyo Sasahara.

The pair dominated proceeding in the final, dealing beautifully with damp, drying, then torrentially wet conditions to come home comfortable winners:

“I enjoyed it thoroughly,” Hamaguchi told DSC post-race.

“The car was very good in the wet, it was tricky, challenging, but that’s what makes it really rewarding.

He was full of praise too for the Orange 1 FFF Racing Team, and for the Lamborghini Huracan GT3 Evo.

“There was plenty of opportunities here to make wrong calls but the car was faultless, and everyone kept calm and gave us all we needed to know to stay on top of conditions.”

And a word for Sasahara’s efforts:

“There was never any doubt about his speed, he’s had a lot of racing success already, but I’m now very keen to see how he goes in GT racing in Europe, I’d love to work with him again, he’s been an excellent team-mate this week.

What next for the Japanese gentleman driver going into 2020?

“I’m pretty certain we’ll be in the Endurance Cup again next season, and I’m also looking to go back to the Michelin Le Mans Cup with the Lamborghini in 2020.”

Hamaguchi raced in the Series for the first two seasons in McLaren and Lamborghini GT3 cars.”
