Team Parker Racing will continue its long-running association with Bentley in the British GT Championship as Nick Jones and Scott Malvern will move up to GT3 for the 2020 campaign.
In what will be their fourth straight season with the team, Nick and Scott will climb behind the wheel of a Bentley Continental GT3 as they turn their first laps in the championship’s premier class.
After taking the GT4 Pro-Am title in 2018, the duo endured a tough season but took a superb overall GT4 win at the three-hour Silverstone 500.
“I’ve been working with Nick for a long time now. He’s been making great progress. We managed to win a championship in 2018 and I think he made steps in 2019 even though the results didn’t reflect it and he hasn’t had the rewards,” said Malvern.
“It is an exciting prospect to jump into the big boy league and see how we stack up. I think Nick will surprise himself and a few other people as well and I think it will highlight how competitive the Pro-Am class in GT4 is. I think some of the Am’s are very good and probably don’t get the recognition they deserve.
“I didn’t think it was going to be possible for me to drive in GT3 so on a personal level I am looking forward to getting my hands on the car and I’m keen to see where I am too. The communication we have had with Bentley has been fantastic, so it is a great place to be.”
Evaluating their options, both drivers considered remaining in GT4 and sampled several different GT3 machines, but ultimately settled on the Bentley as an enjoyable and competitive car to spearhead their plans, with Nick testing the machine at Portimão in December.
The 2020 British GT Championship begins with a trip to the challenging Oulton Park circuit in Cheshire, with two one-hour races over the Easter weekend of April 11 & 13, before taking in six further rounds in the UK and Belgium before finishing in September at Donington Park.
Nick and Scott will unveil the livery for their 2020 British GT Championship contending Bentley Continental GT3 during the spring.
