Hörr Replaces DHH At Project 1

To race alongside Egidio Perfetti and Matteo Cairoli

Team Project 1 has revealed that 2019 Le Mans Cup champion Laurents Hörr will drive in place of David Heinemeier Hansson in its #56 Porsche 911 RSR for this weekend’s FIA WEC race at Circuit of The Americas, and it appears, beyond.

“It was a long decision-making process involving all the important heads of the team as well as Egidio. In the end, the question was: How can we improve the performance and contest the rest of the season without changing drivers again,” said team principal Axel Funke.

“We want to give Laurents the chance to prove his talent in competition with the best. The successes he has enjoyed in GT, as well as prototype racing, make us feel positive that we can develop him well. Of course, we see the race in Austin as a first test run for both sides.”

David Heinemeier Hansson will not contest the upcoming race in Texas, USA, with the team implying that he will not rejoin the team for the final races of the season at Sebring, Spa or Le Mans either.

“We thank David for his work with the team. We have worked on a constructive basis. The whole team wishes David all the best for his future in motorsport as well as in his private life. He will always remain part of the Project 1 family,” added team manager Marcel Jürgens-Wichmann about the Dane.

Before Hörr joins the team he will prepare for the race at the Fast Track Racing Center (FTRC) based in Lohne, Lower Saxony, where he will get to know the team and spend time in a simulator.

“Of course, I am very happy. For me, entering the world championship is an important and right step. I am aware of the responsibility: Team Project 1 is currently defending the title. Nevertheless, I will be concentrating on myself and my learning curve. I know that I have to learn a lot in the short term, but I feel completely up to the task,” says Laurents Hörr.
