Optimum Motorsport has confirmed their switch from Aston Martin to McLaren not only in GT3 but also in GT4.
And they’ve confirmed the driver line-ups for a pair of full season 570S GT4s with a pair of experienced Pro drivers returning to the Championship after significant periods away.
The #27 McLaren sees James Pickford in the Championship for the first time since a one-off appearance in a Backdraft Motorsport Lamborghini in 2011. He’s paired with McLaren Pure Series race winner Nick Moss.
The #88 McLaren sees the return of Ollie Millroy to the Championship for the first time since 2012 when he drove an Ecurie Ecosse BMW Z4 GT3 for two rounds. He is paired for the season with another McLaren Pure Series race winner, tech businessman Brendan Iribe, another Championship debutante.
JMH Reshuffle
JMH Auto has revised its British GT Championship line-up, which now sees Adam Hatfield and Jordan Witt sharing the team’s Lamborghini (pictured top) with John Seale.
Jamie Stanley was previously scheduled to drive the car but has made way for Hatfield and Witt, both of whom have previous British GT experience.
Hatfield, who joins Seale at Snetterton and Silverstone, made several GT4 appearances with Team HARD in 2017 before finishing fourth in Porsche Carrera Cup GB’s Pro/Am standings last season. He also plans to race JMH’s Lamborghini with Searle in GT Cup and has been busy testing the car over the winter.
“I am really excited to be joining John and JMH for British GT’s Snetterton and Silverstone rounds,” said the 22-year-old. “Those two events dovetailed perfectly within our existing programme for 2020. The calibre of the championship looks very high for this year so hopefully after a few days in the car I can be right on the pace.”
Meanwhile, Witt stepped in to partner Ryan Ratcliffe aboard Team Parker’s Bentley at Donington in September after previously campaigning RJN’s Nissan GT-R. His experience of the Huracan GT3, which he raced with Barwell in Europe throughout 2019, will be no doubt vital to JMH’s hopes this year.
