23 July 1989 saw the Brands Hatch Trophy, round four of the World Sportscar Championship and a 35 car field.
It was a season dominated by the Sauber Mercedes squad, but there was plenty to cheer about on home ground as the Aston Martin AMR1 found some form and finished in its best position in its only season in the Championship.
