Emerging endurance racing star Job van Uitert will join Starworks Motorsport for this weekend’s Motul Petit Le Mans at Road Atlanta next week, lining up alongside Mikkel Jensen and former teammate John Farano in the Tower Events-liveried Oreca 07 LMP2 in the IMSA Weathertech Sportscar Championship blue-riband event.
The 22-year-old Dutchman (Job turned 22 this past weekend), who currently lies second in the European Le Mans Series with United Autosports, will make his American racing debut at the race.
Some of the best racing takes place in the IMSA Weathertech Sportscar Series and the tracks in North-America, especially Road Atlanta are old school and require confidence and nerve in equal measure to get the most out of the car”, said Van Uitert who will make his way to the United States immediately after finishing the penultimate ELMS-weekend at Monza.
“It is a quick turn-around but that is ok. You are not allowed to complain about these things when you get a call up to race at Petit Le Mans and I cannot thank Starworks Motorsport and especially John Farano enough for this opportunity!”
The move means the reunion of Van Uitert with Farano two years after the duo, together with Rob Garofall, won the European Le Mans Series LMP3 title with RLR MSport. That title propelled Farano into the LMP2 class and, with a coveted entry as the championship prize, to make his debut in the 24 hours of Le Mans.
“I am delighted to be racing with Job again. We joined forces back in 2018 when he was a fresh-faced, very young single- seater driver who had just made the switch to sportscars but he took to it like a duck to water”, recounts the Canadian racer. “It was a highly enjoyable season and I have been happy to see him thrive in Europe for the past few seasons. To now give him the opportunity to move into American racing is a great feeling and I am extremely confident that with Job and Mikkel Jensen, we will have the ideal line-up to fight for the LMP2 class victory in the upcoming Petit Le Mans race.”
