FIA World Endurance Championship team Racing Team Netherlands has announced it will return to the European Le Mans Series for the first time since 2017 at the series’ third event at Monza with the event scheduled just a week ahead of the FIAWEC round at the same venue.
Frits van Eerd and Giedo van der Garde will share driving duties for the four-hour event with its other FIA WEC driver, Job van Uitert competing in the ELMS for United Autosports.
RTN’s previously contested the 2017 ELMS with their Dallara LMP217 before switching to the world championship, and subsequently to the ORECA chassis. The announcement also means RTN technical partner TDS Racing, European LMP2 champions in 2012, returns to the ELMS after failing to enter a full-season car for the first time since 2010.
The Racing Team Nederland entry is likely to be the first of several WEC teams to seek to add the ELMS race to their programme with others known to be close to confirming their intentions.
