Matt Griffin Misses Monza

Very sad news reached DSC yesterday that Matt Griffin had returned home to Ireland having learned of the death of his father.

Matt’s dad was an enthusiastic supporter of his talented son and followed his progress up through the ranks with real pride.

Matt will be replaced this weekend in the #55 Spirit of Race Ferrari by Alessandro Pier Guidi.

Logan Sergeant In For Harry Tincknell

Harry Tincknell also misses this race – but for an altogether happier reason, the Englishman staying stateside as the newly named Audi reserve driver for Formula E at the New York E-Prix

Logan Sergeant, who set pole position for Racing Team Turkey on his LMP2 debut at the Red Bull Ring, returns at a replacement once again in Italy.

Montermini Back In the Saddle

There are a number of driver changes to report in the Michelin Le Mans Cup, ex Formula One driver Andrea Montermini returns to an ELMS paddock drive fro the first time since 2014 as he joins the #61 AF Corse Ferrari effort alongside Swiss driver Gino Forgione.

Muehlner Motorsport have withdrawn their #18 Duqueine, the sister #21 though will see Jeroen Bleekemolen partnered with Freddie Hunt, the English driver, son of the late F1 Champion James Hunt, has raced in LMP3 once before, at the Road to Le Mans races in 2019.

Frikadelli Debut In Le Mans Cup

Frikadelli Racing make their Le Mans Cup debut here with Klaus Abbelen sharing the team’s immaculately liveried #30 Ligier with Axcil Jeffries.

The team are sharing the awning with fellow Nurburgring racers Black Falcon and it will be a very quick turnaround for Klaus Abbelen. He’ll complete the race in Italy before returning for Germany to take part in the second part of an NLS weekend double header, he’s currently slated to race in Sunday’s NLS 6 race as a solo driver in a Frikadelli SP9 Porsche.

Also making the same trip to take part in the Sunday NLS race is Leonard Weiss from the WTM by Phoenix Duqueine. He’s set to race in the team’s Ferrari on Sunday alongside his father Georg Weiss and Jochen Krumbach.

Keating Getting Acquainted With Temple Of Speed

Ben Keating is racing here in a GT3 class entry in the Le Mans Cup as a one-off, alongside Ross Gunn in a TF Aston Martin to prepare for next weekend’s 6 Hour FIA WEC race.
