A trio of post-race penalties in the hotly contested LMP3 class at the ELMS season finale at Portimao saw the #4 DKR Engineering Duqueine of Laurents Hörr and Mathieu de Barbuat relegated from the win to 4th in the final race standings.
The race win went instead to the #13 Inter Europol Competition Ligier of Martin Hippe, Ugo de Wilde and Adam Eteki with the #2 United Autosports Ligier and #9 Graff Ligier completing the final podium slots.
DKR Engineering though still win the Team title (and the auto entry to the Le Mans 24 Hours that goes with it), and season standout Hörr is still the drivers Champion, though by a significantly reduced margin.
The penalty came late in the evening as the Stewards determined that a required repair to the rear of the initially race-winning car had not been made and converted a stop and go into a 65 second time penalty.
A similar fate befell both the #11 Euro International Ligier that would drop to 9th in class, and the other pre-race title contender, Cool racing’s #19 Ligier, now classified eighth.
