After a curtailed FP1 for the Mazda, Harry Tincknell got things back on track for the #55 RT24-P in Free Practice 2, topping the times with a late session effort, 1:09.356 edging out the #31 Cadillac of Felipe Nasr by half a tenth.
The #5 Mustang Sampling/ JDC-Miller Cadillac of Sebastien Bourdais was next up followed by Kevin Magnussen in the #01 Chip Ganassi Racing Cadiillac and Dane Cameron in the #60 Meyer Shank Acura.
Mikkel Jensen led LMP2 with a 1:11.930 in the #52 PR1/Mathiasen Motorsports Oreca 07 Gibson of Mikkel Jensen, seven tenths up on the #22 United Autosports car of Guy Smith – Ryan Dalziel was next up in the #18 Era Motorsport car.
Nick Tandy was fastest in GTLM taking his #4 Corvette C8.R to a 1:16.938, under a tenth clear of the #97 WeatherTech Porsche of Kevin Estre, Mathieu Jaminet third fastest in the #79 Porsche.
The top three in LMP3 again outpaced the GTLM leaders, the #91 Riley Motorsports Ligier of Dylan Murry with aa 1:16.413, just two-hundredths ahead of the sister #74 JS P320 of Felipe Fraga. Josh Skelton completed the class top three in the #83 WIN Duqueine.
The Turner Motorsport BMW led a second consecutive session, this time in the hands of Robby Foley with a 1:19.593, 0.051 seconds ahead of Aaron Telitz in the #14 Vasser Sullivan Lexus.
The session again saw red flag stoppages, three this time, with the most serious a significant shunt that saw Jan Heylen hit from behind in the #16 Wright Motorsports Porsche by John Farano in the #8 Tower Motorsport Oreca as the pair came under the bridge in Turn 12. The damage was such that the Wright Motorsports team did not play any further part in the days proceedings, Porsche North America sources confirming that a replacement chassis is being sought.
There were further pauses in action for recovery of the #36 Andretti Autosport Ligier LMP3 and the #91 Riley Ligier.
