Felipe Nasr topped the times in Free practice 1 in the #31 Action Express/ Whelen Engineering Cadillac with a 1:09.508, a quarter of a second up on Renger van der Zande’s best in the #01 Chip Ganassi Racing Cadillac with Dane Cameron third, a further three-tenths down in the #60 Meyer Shank Racing Acura ARX-05.
Gabriel Aubry topped the LMP2 times in the #8 Tower Motorsport ORECA with a 1:11.718, a couple of tenths up on Wayne Boyd for United Autosports.
Porsche ran one-two in the GTLM class, Fred Makowiecki in the #97 911 RSR-19 setting a 1:16.726 edging out Mathieu Jaminet in the full-season #79 by under two-tenths.
LMP3 category was topped by Colin Braun in the #54 CORE Ligier JS P320 Nissan in 1:15.916, half a tenth up on Spencer Pigot’s Jr III Racing Ligier mark.
Felipe Fraga and Dyan Murry put the pair of Riley Motorsport-run Ligier’s next up, the top four LMP3s faster than the leading GTLM Porsches.
In GTD, Turner Motorsports’ Bill Auberlen started the final IMSA meeting for the #96 BMW M6 GT3 well, topping the times with a 1:19.197 ahead of Inception Racing’s late substitute for Ollie Millroy, Frederik Schandorf, in the #70 McLaren 720S GT3. The #14 Lexus, #42 NTE Sport Audi and #16 Wright Porsche completed the top five in class.
The session saw two stoppages under red flags, the first for the #55 Mazda stopped on course with an electrical issue, the second for a stalled WIN Motorsport Oreca 07 on course.
