The Super Taikyu Organisation (STO) has announced the schedule for the 2022 Super Taikyu Series Powered by Hankook, consisting of seven rounds across six Japanese venues.
Suzuka Circuit will host a pair of five-hour endurance races for the first and last rounds of the championship. The first round will take place on the weekend of 19-20 March, and the finale will take place on 26-27 November.
Super Taikyu’s crown jewel event, the Fuji Super TEC 24 Hours at Fuji Speedway, will be held as the second round of the championship on the weekend of 3-5 June – one week before the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
Sportsland Sugo will host a pair of three-hour races on 9-10 July, followed by a pair of five-hour races at Autopolis International Racing Course on 30-31 July, and Mobility Resort Motegi on 3-4 September. Okayama International Circuit hosts the penultimate round on 15-16 October, consisting of another doubleheader of three-hour races.
This will be the longest Super Taikyu calendar since 2010, which also comprised of seven rounds – including a race at the now-defunct Sendai Hi-Land Raceway. The series also scheduled seven rounds for the 2013 season, with a one-off trip to Inje Speedium in South Korea; only six races were run because the opening round at Sugo was cancelled due to snow.
Two official test sessions have also been scheduled at Fuji Speedway: A pre-season test on 23 February, and an in-season, pre-Fuji 24h test in May at a date to be confirmed later.
