Garage 59 is adding, with immediate effect, two Mclaren 720S GT3s to their fleet and will race their new acquisitions in the 2022 Asian Le Mans Series, which takes place in Dubai and Abu Dhabi in February. The entries had initially been posted with Aston Martin GT3 machinery nominated.
The 2019 GT World Challenge Europe Pro-Am Endurance Champions will announce the driver line-ups for its cars in the New Year.
It marks a return to Mclaren machinery for the team after a successful spell with Aston Martin, though the team are not currently counting out their Vantages being fielded at some point in 2022.
The McLaren’s debut with the team will come as part of a healthy 25-car entry lined up for the GT class for the 2022 Asian Le Mans Series.
The Dubai round in 2021 was the scene of Garage 59’s first podium of the year when Alexander West, Maxime Martin and Valentin Hasse-Clot took third place in the second of the two races at the Dubai Autodrome in the #88 Aston Martin Vantage.
The rounds in Abu Dhabi netted multiple Top 10 finishes but the team will be heading back to fight for the top positions in 2022.
Garage 59 Team Principal, Andrew Kirkaldy said: “Garage 59 has a rich history with McLaren and it’s great to be back with them for 2022. The 720S looked very promising throughout last year so we are really looking forward to getting out there with ours and going racing!”
Further plans for the Garage 59 team will be revealed in the New Year.
