Hayashi Telempu SHADE Racing announced Tuesday that they will enter the 2022 Autobacs Super GT Series in the GT300 class.
Established in 2018 by vehicle parts manufacturer Hayashi Telempu, SHADE (Specialized Hayashi Telempu Driving Emotion) Racing have been competing in the Super Taikyu Series over the last four years. Their first-generation Toyota 86 won the ST-4 class championship in 2019 and in 2021, powered by a cast of top-level drivers including Katsuyuki Hiranaka, Yuji Kunimoto, Keishi Ishikawa, and Eijiro Shimizu.
This past year, they expanded their operation across multiple classes with the addition of a Toyota GR Supra GT4, competing in the ST-Z class.
“From next year, 2022, we have decided to take on a new challenge in Super GT, the highest category in Japan, with the aim of contributing to the revitalization of the automobile industry through sustainable activities for the development of motor sports and the promotion of its appeal,” the team said in their official statement. “In conjunction with our participation in the race, we will be hiring mechanics and staff at the Gotemba Factory.”
“It will be a new challenge for us, but we will be aiming to win each and every race from the opening round.”
The team has not announced any further details about their upcoming GT300 entry (including drivers, management, tyre partners etc.) but it is expected that they will field a brand new GTA-GT300 specification Toyota GR86 constructed by apr Racing.
