Bamber Tops Warm-Up

A 1:34.131 from Earl Bamber ended the Sunday morning Warm-up session fastest for the #02 Cadillac after a near disaster for team-mate Alex Lynn.

Lynn was lucky to stay on track after Eric Lux made an error and veered into the Cadillac’s path on the banking, there was contact but both managed to continue.

The session ended as a 1-2 for the Chip Ganassi-run Cadillacs with Renger van der Zande 0.3 seconds back in the #01.

Rene Rast topped LMP2 in the #68 G-Drive by APR Oreca whilst Fabio Scherer had a disastrous out-lap in the #20 High Class Racing car, off the road in the pit exit and then again later in the lap, cold tyres apparently the cause – Damage? Asked DSC – “Enough!” said a senior team member!

The #36 Andretti Autosports Ligier, in the hands of Josh Burdon, topped LMP3.

Andrea Caldarelli topped GTD Pro in the #63 TR3 Lamborghini with the two WeatherTech-liveried AMGs next up.

Not making the session was the Risi Competizione Ferrari, the crew working fast to fix a problem, diagnosed as “Something loose in the bellhousing” If the team has the relevant parts then the car should make the qualifying race this afternoon.

GTD meanwhile was headed by the #70 Inception Racing McLaren, Brendan Iribe credited with the lap.

Not quite making the session though was the now near complete #66 Gradient Racing Acura, the team just missing the session by minutes after repairs from Friday’s practice were completed.

Not running either, with a suggestion that the team may not run in the qualifying race either, was the #75 SunEnergy1 AMG.
