Dutch driver Thierry Vermeulen replaces Anders Fjordbach aboard High Class Racing’s Audi R8 LMS GT3 for this weekend’s Kyalami 9H after the signing GT2 European Champion withdrew from this event for personal reasons.
Vermeulen then will face his first experience in GT3 after winning the 2020 GT4 Benelux title. However it won’t be his debut in endurance racing as Vermeulen finished in second place in 2022 Dubai 24h in 992-Pro class last month.
The car, entered in conjunction with team WRT, will be driven by Vermeulen, GT2 European Champion Mark Patterson and the team’s reserve driver Michael Markussen in which will be his first official race with High Class Racing.
Thierry Vermeulen: “I am extremely happy and thankful that I will be joining High Class Racing & WRT. It will be my first GT3 race so let’s see what we can do in this very competitive field of drivers, I am looking forward to work with this amazing team and learn for my future in GT3 racing”.
